News: Reopening of Mencap Centre delayed

CCM planned to reopen The Outreach Academy at Mencap Centre on Wednesday 6th January.

On 31st December 2020, CCM, and all day opportunities providers across the county, received a 'closure notice' from Essex County Council.  They have requested that we temporarily close our building-based services due to the high coronavirus infection rate, and the current pressure on hospitals in our area.

While we are disappointed not to be able to welcome students back to Mencap Centre as planned, we support ECC's decision, as it is the best way to keep everyone safe until the coronavirus situation improves.

Our Virtual Academy reopened as planned on Wednesday 6th January and all students are able to join their usual classes.

All students previously unable to access our online services are now able to do so, thanks to our pilot project, Curated Access to the Virtual Academy.  They are now enjoying catching up with their friends and continuing their lifelong learning!

Our weekly welfare checks continue, and we are doing our very best to respond to members' needs during this difficult time.
