City of Chelmsford Mencap does not receive any direct funding from Royal Mencap or government and therefore relies entirely on donations to run its services.  There are lots of ways to help the charity raise vital funds.

Fundraising

Spread the word, support our cause

Tell everyone about our work and promote our events.  From sharing our posts on Facebook to putting up posters and boards to advertise our concerts and campaigns, any help to spread the word is appreciated.

Help us place collection tins (and our festive Christmas boots) in shops, pubs and businesses.

Come along to our events - and encourage others too.  You'll have a great time - and there's usually cake, which is a bonus!

Encourage your school, college or workplace to adopt City of Chelmsford Mencap as its chosen charity.  Moulsham Junior School has made CCM its Charity of the Year and students have already raised over £500.  The school council recently visited Mencap Centre to meet Outreach Academy students and to present their first donation to CCM President, Alison Widgery.

Use your talents

Sing, dance or use your skills and talents to raise money.  Young people from Chelmsford College, NGDA and our own Outreach Academy dancers have all performed in aid of City of Chelmsford Mencap recently.  Friends of CCM Wendy and Val gave mini reflexology sessions to shoppers in return for a donation at one of our awareness events.

Go wild and wacky!  Trustee Amanda Durrant did a sponsored handstand and raised enough money for us to purchase a chest of drawers to make into a much needed sensory station for our students with sensory needs.  Tutor Carole Rose also raised funds by dressing as a Christmas tree for the day (it was December).

Take on a sporting challenge in aid of City of Chelmsford Mencap.  David Holroyd-Doveton completed the London to Paris Bike Ride in 2014 and raised over £2000 for us!  He was kind enough to visit Mencap Centre and tell Outreach Academy students all about his adventures.
